Mexican Creeper/coral vine/Queen’s wreath is a perennial vine native to Mexico and Central America. It has heart-shared leaves and pink nectar-rich flowers are blooming all year round as long as it is sunny, up to 9-12 meters in length. Some varieites of this species are in white or dark red flowers. it can climb up fences or other garden structures or act as a ground cover.



Due to its rapid growth behaviour, It is classifed as a “weed” in the US, a pest in Australia and an invasive species in South Africa, Kenya, Cuba, Puerto Rico and other countries. this beauty has the potential to alter community/ecological structures by displacing native plant speices and outcompetiting others.
Originating from Mexico and Central America, Antigonon leptopus has been used in traditional medicine in these regions for centuries. It has spread to other tropical and subtropical areas due to its ornamental value and adaptability.
In mexico its underground tubers can be cooked and eated/ used as a herb/spice.
