Orange Jasmine

Kemuning/ Orange Jasmine is a  shrub native to Southeast Asia and australia. Known for its fragrant white flowers and glossy green leaves, it is commonly used in gardens and as a decorative plant. In addition to its ornamental value, Orange Jasmine has applications in traditional medicine. The plant’s aromatic flowers are also used in some culinary practices and local rituals.

Nature of The Plant

In traditional medicine, especially within Indonesian and Malaysian cultures, Kemuning leaves are used to prepare infusions or poultices for anti-inflammation anti-microbial purposes and to alleivate pain. For instance, a leaf extract might be applied to swollen joints or used in a bath to help reduce symptoms of arthritis, and skin irritations/rashes

Orange Jasmine also has symbolic significance in many cultures, in south east asia. 
In Indonesian culture, it is often used in traditional ceremonies, including weddings and temple offerings. The plant’s aromatic flowers are included in decorative arrangements, symbolizing purity and grace. In Balinese Hindu ceremonies, Orange Jasmine flowers might be used in offerings to deities. Similarly, in traditional Malaysian weddings, Orange Jasmine is used as well to reflect a harmonious and prosperous life for the newly weds.
